My name is John Gross and I had the pleasure of leading Eddy
Reber to Jesus, and His brother Jerry baptized Him, but all of us
watched Eddy be transformed before our very eyes. I have never
seen such a change in one person, period.
Eddy was diagnosed with Cancer in the summer of 2006 and
survived until June of 2008. He was only 49 years old. The
cancer he had was metastatic, which means that it would spread
to other parts of the body rapidly. He was told he had 6 months to
live. Eddy was a fighter, he refused to believe that this was it. So
for the next 2 years he got closer to God, and completely turned
his life around. He brought so much joy and love to so many
people.
Shortly after the funeral this idea just seemed to drop down.
“In Katogwe district in central Uganda resides Pastor Baliruno
Valentine. He and His wife have two small children and had taken
in 9 orphans all living in a 12 x 12 dung hut. So here is the idea,
Build a house in memory of my great friend. It will provide
care for many more orphans. That would bring resolution to what
Eddy wanted to do, plus give a place for his family to connect with
for generations to come”
It is now a reality. There are now 14 beautiful children being
loved on, and cared for in their very own home. God truly places
the lonely in families. God has raised up the Valentine Family for
such a time as this. House of Friends along with many of you
were used by the Lord to provide the house. It has not stopped
there.
